A statue of Ghana's President Akufo-Addo unveiled by himself in Sekondi-Takoradi has been vandalised.
The statue, unveiled last month and located near the Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital, has a gaping hole in its left calf.
The circumstances surrounding the vandalism remain unclear.
The statue has been a subject of public debate since its unveiling.
Western Regional Minister Kwabena Okyere Darko Mensah after the unveiling ceremony on November 6 explained that the statue honors the president’s initiatives in the region, including the rehabilitation of Effia-Nkwanta Regional Hospital, the construction of a 3-tier Sinohydro interchange, and the redevelopment of the Takoradi Market Circle.
However, these projects remain incomplete, with some even halted.
