The External Relations Manager of the Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC) has called for stiffer punishment for illegal utility connectors.

Nana Yaa Jantuah believes the move will deter others from imitating the offenders adding if sanctions on such persons is not heavy handed, efficient distribution of utilities will be hampered inconveniencing many who have been law abiding.

Madam Jantuah, speaking in the Bono Ahafo Region, has meanwhile pledged that a PURC office will be opened in Sunyani to take their enquiries and complaints. Hitherto, the office in Kumasi provided oversight responsibility of catering for residents in the region.
