The District Chief Executive for Upper Denkyira West says Military personnel deployed to Denkyira Obuasi following the lynching of an army captain are brutalising residents.
Daniel Ampianeng says the over 70 soldiers are indiscriminately assaulting residents including women and children in, their search for the killers of their colleague, Captain Maxwell Mahama.
Speaking to CitiNews, he said "They have arrested lots of men and beating them, they also camped some women at a church.
He added that the death of one person has brought the entire military to the place and the residents are being assaulted.
Apart from the military and other police personnel, he said the entire town is empty because people are being camped while others are running for their lives.
"I am not happy for the death of the military man but very worried about what is going on. There are questions to be asked so it does not look like we are only interested in the death of the person. The events that have happened all this while especially the armed robbery incidents,"he stated.
The military presence he said is frightening and making it very difficult for proper investigations to be carried out.
Captain Mahama was lynched yesterday after he was mistaken to for an armed robber while on duty in the area.
