The Supreme Court has adjourned indefinitely a case filed by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) challenging a High Court ruling that directed the Electoral Commission (EC) to complete and declare parliamentary election results in four constituencies.
The High Court, led by Justice Forson Baah Agyapong, issued the ruling on January 4, 2025, granted an application by the New Patriotic Party (NPP), ordering the EC to finalise the collation of results in Okaikwei Central, Tema Central, Techiman South, and Ablekuma North constituencies.
Following the ruling, the EC recollated results for three constituencies—Okaikwei Central, Tema Central, and Techiman South. However, results for Ablekuma North are yet to be completed.
The NDC petitioned the Supreme Court to overturn the High Court’s decision. The party argued that the ruling raised legal concerns about the electoral process and wants it nullified.
When the case was called in court today, it emerged that the NDC has failed to serve the NPP candidates who are parties to the case.
The Apex court has therefore adjourned the case Sine die (indefinitely) to allow for the parties to be served.
