The Chairman of the National Council of PTA’s Alex Danso has noted that teachers in Ghana are not well motivated to keep them in the classroom.
Mr. Danso who was speaking to Agartha Asamoah on Radio Ghana's ‘Behind the News’ show said teachers in the country at the moment are going through a lot of problems.
“I don’t know of other countries but for Ghana no. why do I say that, the teachers in Ghana at the moment are going through a lot of problems. Sometimes teachers are not being paid; they are not being motivated well and are being threatened day in day out. What we are saying is that teaching profession is a noble profession in the world and it must be treated as such.â€
He also held that as the teaching profession is a human endeavor not all of them will be seen performing well. “Its a human institution you may not have all performing but at least you will have some few.â€
As a National Chairman of Council of PTA’s, he assured teachers of their support. We the national council of PTA would like to assure teachers that we are solidly behind them, and the bond that has existed between teachers and parents will continue to grow from strength to strength.
He further advised parents to be grateful to teachers “Ghanaian parents should recognize teachers, adore them, honour them, respect them and also thank them, for they have committed themselves to giving quality education to our children.â€
