Private Legal Practitioner Ace Ankomah say the law does not work in Ghana as he commented on the private militia exposé.
There is a latest expose of how the government (NPP) is allegedly training a group of people at the Osu Castle as a militia.
The government has denied this and says the documentary by Joy News is misleading.
Joy News in the documentary described the Osu Castle as a security zone by the government says otherwise.
In a press briefing on Friday, the Information Minister Kojo Oppong Nkrumah said the government noticed that one Nana Wireko Addo was the leader of the group which was set up to provide jobs for individuals and was asked to vacate the Osu Castle last October which the documentary says otherwise.
"De-Eye Group, initially, succeeded in using the garden grounds of the Castle, Osu, for its activities because its promoter, one Nana Wireko Addo, had been assigned an office there to work with a task force to retrieve landed properties and vehicles in the possession of officials of the erstwhile Mahama administration. After the conclusion of the work of the task force in August 2018, he, subsequently, converted the office allocated to him into a private business office for the stated purposes of his company. Admittedly, this should not have been allowed to happen in the first place, but was quickly dealt with in October 2018, when he was evicted from the premises by a joint operation involving personnel of National Security and the Police," portions of government said.
Ace believes the lawlessness in this country allowed the group to go back to the Osu Castle when they were sacked.
"They evicted this group and they come back and you have to re-evict them again so what did you evict in the first place, the law simply doesn't work"
"The law ought to be applied to these groups to be disbanded immediately. I think it is important for us to know who is giving the De Eye Group cover,"Â he spoke on NewFile on Joy News
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) also distanced themselves from the group and said: "NPP wishes to state UNEQUIVOCALLY FOR THE RECORDS that it has no connection to the purported group shown in the documentary."
The Minority in parliament has taken a keen interest in the matter and called on President Akufo-Addo to resign as they believe he has “lost all moral right†to occupy the high office" due to exposé.
The Minority at a press conference held that the report shook the very foundation of Ghana’s democracy.
