Managing Director of the State Transport Corporation, Nana Akomea, has said a more efficient way to solve the frequent tidal wave invasion in Keta will be the construction of a port.
“The longer-term solution which I understand will be the port. The port should be done because it comes with this thing that we call the breakwaters and they are literally dams,” he said.
He stated that he is hoping the government will find some money to construct a port in Keta since the sea at Keta has enough water that can be used in building the port.

Speaking on Good Morning Ghana on Friday, November 12, 2021, the Managing Director of the State Transport Corporation also stated that it will be a natural investment for the country if a port is constructed in Keta since it will turn the water into economic activity.
A few days ago, tidal waves invaded some communities in the Keta and Ketu South Municipalities, leaving hundreds of residents displaced.
A similar incident occurred in June this year when five communities -- Agavadzi, Salakope, Adina, Blekusu and Amutinu -- were hit by tidal waves, causing destruction to hundreds of properties and displacing more than 1,000 residents.
