Police have disclosed that the fatal explosion at Apiate, a town between Bogoso and Bordee, on Thursday was caused by explosives in transit.

“Preliminary investigation has established that a mining explosive vehicle moving from Tarkwa to Chirano mines collided with a motorcycle resulting in the explosion.

“Most of the victims have been rescued and are on admission at various hospitals and clinics within the Bogoso Municipality,” police clarified.

Earlier reports by local media had said the explosion was caused by an inflammable substance that had spilt.

The huge explosion from the explosives razed down many buildings in the area.
