The US President, Joe Biden has announced a presidential delegation to attend the inauguration of Ghana’s President-elect, John Mahama, on January 7, 2025, in Accra.
In a White House release, Shalanda D. Young, Director of the United States Office of Management and Budget, has been named the head of the delegation.

The Honourable Virginia E. Palmer, United States Ambassador to the Republic of Ghana, the Honourable Karen Bass, Mayor of Los Angeles, California, the Honourable Frances Z. Brown, Special Assistant to the President and Senior Director for African Affairs, National Security Council, The White House.
Mahama, who triumphed over incumbent Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia in Ghana’s December 7, election, will be sworn in for a new term, having previously served as president from 2012 to 2017.
The U.S. delegation highlights the mutual respect and robust partnership between Ghana and the United States, as well as the global recognition of Ghana’s democratic processes.
