Students of University of Professional Studies Accra [UPSA] have given government a four week ultimatum to shut down a SEL filling station sited behind the walls of the school.
The students say the location of the filling station puts their lives at risk, considering the recent gas explosion at Atomic junction. The explosion claimed 7 lives and injured 134.
The incident has prompted cabinet to order the implementation of the Cylinder Re-circulation Model of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) distribution.

The module, projected by the National Petroleum Authority (NPA), will ensure that LPG filling points are sited out of densely populated area and commercial centres.
As part of the new safety regulations, there is to be the deployment of a task force, within 30 days, to access the risk that all LPG infrastructure nationwide pose in terms of public health and safety.
The SRC president of UPSA Justice Gadugah said they have in many ways engaged government but the filling station is still there, leaving them with no option than to hit the streets.
