The Ghana Police Service in the Volta region have intercepted Cannabis (Wee) worth GH¢300K in a hideout in Kpeve.
APS Banini led a team of officers from the SWAT division to undertake the operation on Saturday, December 8, 2018.
The Volta Regional Police Commander, DCOP F.E. Doku, said they acted after picking up intelligence that the suspects were hiding Indian hemp and other weapons.
He further explained that the team from SWAT were able to impound about 50 sacks of dry leaves believed to be Indian hemp, five barrels of the herbs and four locally manufactured guns.
The Police also intercepted two unregistered jungle motorbikes used by the suspects before they fled into the bush.
Four suspects namely Prosper Donkor, 27; Adomla Torvor, 70; Gati Samuel, 38; and Dotse Noah, 25 have all been arrested in connection with the issue and investigations are currently ongoing.
The four men will today December 11, 2018, be in court.
