Minister-designate for Inner Cities and Zongo Development, Boniface Abubakar Saddique has asked Ghanaians to change their mindset about people living in Zongo.
Appearing before the Appointment Committee of Parliament on Wednesday, he said, there is a popular notion that people living in Zongo are violent and sometimes uncivilized but not entirely the case as it is dependent on the way they were brought up.
According to him, there is a particular upbringing that helps to shape the lives of the Muslim children which people living in the elite societies refer to occasionally.
"Those who were born in the elite residential areas,if they were soft in pampering them, sometimes they say, take him to Zongo, if he is beaten up small, he will change,"he said.
He added that "it looks like with the type of socialization we have, we do not fear beating, we do not fear talking carelessly. This is the Zongo upbringing and that is a specialization so it is important that we distinct this."
But in modern time, he said the Zongo has to be fully integrated so that today, Zongo is in the heart or middle of every town and not on the outskirts.
