Provisional results trickling in from Awutu Senya East Constituency in the Central region has indicated that the people needed change and not an interchange.

On 29th November, President John Dramani Mahama, commissioned the first phase of the Kasoa interchange as a major infrastructure development in the constituency.

Aside its objective of easing the heavy vehicular traffic in the Kasoa area, the interchange was expected to rake in votes for the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

Unfortunately, that failed because the NPP garnered more votes than the NDC did.

Over the years, the NPP has enjoyed massive support from the Awutu Senya East and has been translated into votes so much that, not even a major infrastructure project like the much touted Kasoa interchange could change that.

While Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo won by 33,823 votes representing 56.93 percent, President Mahama garnered 25,153 representing 42.33 percent.

The incumbent Member of Parliament, Hawa Koomson who doubles as the Parliamentary Candidate on the ticket of the NPP also retained her seat with an impressive gap.
