An expert in the study of the human ear and throat, Dr Kenneth Baidoo, has indicated that individuals who indulge in oral sex risk being affected by cancer of the throat.

He stated that some victims of throat cancer get infected by a particular virus during oral sex in their youth but because it was not detected it resulted in throat cancer over time.

The otolaryngologist noted that throat cancer occurs when there is soreness in the throat.

According to Dr Baidoo, the youth are more susceptible to throat cancer because of their penchant to indulge in oral sex.

"We are getting quite a number of people coming with throat cancer, cancer of the throat…rimming and blow jobs are some of the many ways in which oral sex is done leading to the high risk of getting throat cancer," he said on the GTV’s Breakfast Show on Tuesday, October 26, 2021.

He also stated that early detection of the condition could easily be corrected by a simple procedure, but late detection can result in complicated surgical procedures like the splitting of the jaw.

Oral sex is using your mouth, lips or tongue to stimulate a person’s genitals.

It can involve sucking or licking a penis, vagina, vulva, clitoris or anus.
