Defence Minister, Dr. Omane Boamah, has criticized former New Patriotic Party (NPP) Presidential Candidate for refusing to take responsibility for the party’s defeat in the 2024 general elections.

‎Dr. Bawumia recently said that issues like the unfinished National Cathedral project and the $58 million spent on it were key reasons why the NPP lost. He argued that these matters caused the public to lose trust in the party.

‎However, Dr. Boamah has disagreed. In a social media post, he said Dr. Bawumia was blaming everyone but himself. He insisted that the former Vice President played a major role in the country’s economic difficulties, which he believes were a big reason for the NPP’s loss.

‎“Elections 2024: Bawumia is blaming everything and everybody EXCEPT HIMSELF. Bawumia was critical for NPP’s economic mess!” Dr. Boamah wrote.

‎Many critics have questioned Dr. Bawumia’s leadership of the Economic Management Team during the NPP government, saying poor economic policies worsened the situation for many Ghanaians and led to the election defeat.
