The High Court in Accra has set Monday, October 21, 2024, as the date to rule on a case filed by disqualified presidential candidate of the People's National Convention (PNC), Bernard Mornah, against the Electoral Commission (EC).

The flagbearer of the People’s National Convention (PNC), Bernard Anbataayela Mornah has filed a Judicial review action at the High Court against the Electoral Commission seeking among others an order to quash its decision that disqualified him from contesting in the 2024 Presidential elections.

He is also seeking an order of mandamus to compel the Electoral Commission to clear him as a duly nominated candidate of his party to contest the 2024 election.

When the case was called on October 16, lawyers for the applicant prayed for the court to order the EC to desist from going ahead with the printing of ballot papers until the court's ruling on the matter.

Mr Mornah, who had filed to contest, was disqualified by the EC among 10 others for their failure to correct errors on their nomination forms.

He is thus seeking the court to issue the writs of certiorari and mandamus directed at the EC and also restrain the electoral management body from proceeding to print the Presidential ballot papers until he is declared a duly nominated candidate to contest.
