Defeated Member of Parliament for Okaikoi South Constituency in the Greater Accra Region, Dakoa Newman, has congratulated her opponent, Ernest Adomako on his victory.

In a post on X, the Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection expressed her sincere gratitude to constituents for their support over the years.

She also commended the constituency for a peaceful election although the outcome did not meet their expectations.

"I extend my heartfelt gratitude to the good people of Okaikoi South for your sacrifices and commitment to democracy. Although we did not achieve the outcome we hoped for, I am forever grateful for the privilege of serving as Member of Parliament over the past four years.

Together, we have made significant strides, so let us forge ahead in unity for a better tomorrow.

I warmly congratulate Ernest Adomako on emerging victorious in this parliamentary election. I wish you the very best as you take on the mantle of leadership."

Miss Newman was a first-time MP who was seeking re-election in 2024.

She, however, lost the seat after polling 24,263 votes representing 42.60% while Mr Adomako, secured 32,691 votes which accounted for 57.40%.
