Head of Communication at the Electoral Commission, Eric Kofi Dzakpasu has confirmed seven political parties and two independent presidential candidates have picked up forms as at Monday, September 3, 2016.
Those seeking to unseat incumbent John Mahama and have representation in parliament include Madam Akua Donkor’s Ghana Freedom Party (GFP), Akwasi Addai Odike’s United Progressive Party (UPP), Nana Agyenim- Boateng’s United Front Party (UFP), Kofi Akpaloo’s Independent People’s party (IPP), the Great Consolidated Popular Party (GCPP) and the Democratic Freedom Party (DFP).
The candidates and party are expected to submit processed forms before deadline dates of September 29 and 30.
Twenty- five registered political parties are expected to pick nomination forms from the Electoral Commission of Ghana offices across the districts.

Presidential and parliamentary filing fees set at GHc50,000 and GHc10,000 respectively could be reviewed after protest by some parties.
