Former President and NDC flag bearer, John Mahama, has cautioned Ghanaians that voting for the NPP in the upcoming election would mean accepting the impunity of the past eight years.

Mahama emphasized that a vote for the NPP would be a vote for a third term for President Nana Akufo-Addo.

Mahama’s comments came during the launch of the NDC manifesto at the University of Education, Winneba, where he stressed the need for accountability and responsible governance.

He condemned the NPP’s handling of the country’s resources, asserting that officials have stolen and raped the nation’s resources with impunity.

“A vote for the NPP in this election is a vote to escape accountability,” Mahama warned. “It is a vote to allow officials who have stolen and raped this country’s resources to escape accountability and go laughing all the way to their bank accounts.” He emphasized that the NPP’s flag bearer and running mate cannot be trusted to exact accountability, having been part of the government for the past eight years.

Mahama called for a reset in the country’s democracy, economy, governance, and attitudes. He pledged to encourage the efforts of all Ghanaians, irrespective of ethnicity, religion, or party affiliation, and to create an environment where all businesses can thrive. “We need a government that will crack the whip when its own appointees go down the wrong track,” Mahama said.

The NDC manifesto promises to restore accountability, respect citizens’ rights and freedoms, and fight corruption through the “Operation Recover All the Loots” principle. Mahama urged Ghanaians to make a change and take back their future by voting for the NDC. “Today, we’re presenting to you a manifesto that will help take back your future, take the future of Ghana back into the hands of the Ghanaian people,” he said.
