The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has announced the expulsion of about 280 members in Agona West for acts deemed to violate the party’s constitution.
The decision, effective December 16, 2024, was unanimously reached during an Expanded Constituency Executive Committee meeting held on Sunday, December 15, 2024.
The expelled members from the party, include Cynthia Mamle Morrison, former Gender Minister.
A statement signed by the constituency Chairman, Alhaji Gibrine Tanko explained that, several complaints were received from other party members against the said persons for anti-party misconduct.
These included standing as an independent candidate against the NPP’s officially elected 2024 parliamentary candidate, joining or declaring their support for another political party, supporting an independent candidate in the just-ended December 7, 2024, parliamentary election in the constituency and continuously demonstrating such character against the party in every election year.
The affected persons include polling station chairmen, women and youth organisers, among other party members.
