Former President John Dramani Mahama has described the current New Patriotic Party (NPP) government as a national tragedy, wreaking havoc across the country.

He said "civil servants, doctors, nurses, teachers, businessmen, women, traders, farmers, drivers and the teaming unemployed youth of Ghana" are facing the hardships under the Nana Akufo-Addo-led government.

"This government is our common national tragedy,” he stressed.

He stated that although Ghanaians have been compelled to suffer the current hardships and difficulties, they should not lose hope and give up on the country.

He has urged citizens to "work hard for a better Ghana and a better future under a new government administration in 2025."

“We have yet to endure these very difficult times for a while longer due to a combination of factors. But I come to you this evening with a simple message: do not out of avoidable hardships and difficulties despair to the point of losing hope and giving up on Ghana. Do not lose hope. Instead I urge you to work hard for a better Ghana and a better future under a new administration in 2025,” Mahama assured during a speech on Wednesday, November 10, 2021, to end his Thank You tour.

John Dramani Mahama further promised Ghanaians that his administration will follow in the footsteps of all other National Democratic Congress administrations where policies will be made national and people-centred and not be based on ethnicity, tribe or circumstances of birth.

The former President also stated that if his administration comes into power, he will see to it that the national cake is shared equally to all parts of the country.
