Despite the disqualification of their flagbearer, Hassan Ayariga, the All People’s Congress (APC) is launching their campaign in Ashaiman in the Greater Accra Region today.

The Electoral Commission on Monday disqualified Hassan Ayariga and 11 eleven other aspirants including the Dr Paa Kwesi Nduom of the Progressive People's Party (PPP), Dr Edward Mahama of the People's National Convention (PNC), Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings of The National Democratic Party (NDP) and Dr Henry Herbert Lartey of the Great Consolidated Popular Party (GCPP) for various anomalies on their nomination forms which breached CI 94, the law guiding the conduct of the  December 7 general elections.

The APC, like many others have threatenend to go court to get their candidate back in the race and the campaign launch according to their General Secretary, Razak Kojo Opoku "is part of activities of the party to re-energize our support base and let Ghanaians also know that APC is a well-established party, which is not going to be water down by the decision of the Electoral Commission.”

Speaking to Agatha Asamoah on GBC’s ‘Behind the News’, Mr Opoku the campaign launch which under the theme ‘Come on board let’s win and build Ghana together’ is also aimed at growing their support base in the country.

According to him, their candidate "is not out of the race because it is the decision of the EC and interim and their candidate has the opportunity to go to a competent court of jurisdiction to overturn the decision of EC.”

"We have already written to the EC waiting for response and hopefully from Monday going (forward) we shall start the process of going to court for the court to overturn the decision of the EC”, he added.
