The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has urged Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh aslo known as Napo to be submissive to the presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP)
The Asantehene also urged Dr Opoku Prempeh to ensure that Dr Mahamudu Bawumia never regrets selecting him as his running mate for the forthcoming 2024 general election.
Speaking at the Manhyia Palace on Tuesday on July 9 as part of the event to outdoor Dr Opoku Prempeh as the running mate to Dr Bawumia, Otumfuo told him [Napo] to remain loyal, listen and obey the presidential candidate.
“I have advised him indoors but I want to say it again, that don’t let Bawumia regret choosing you,” the Asantehene said.
“Follow him with humility. Do what he will tell you. A lot of people are saying you are arrogant but you were not like that at home. So don’t let what they have been saying be confirmed,” he added.
He also counseled Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia to take care of him and report to him whenever he goes astray, so that he Otumfuo will rebuke him himself.
“Bawumia, I have given you my grandchild, if he goes astray, let me know and I will reproach him myself in closed doors,” said the overlord of the Asante Kingdom.
The NPP outdoored Napo as Bawumia's running mate at the Jubilee Park in Kumasi in the Ashanti Region.
The outdooring followed the confirmation by the National Council of the NPP of Napo as the running mate to Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.
