Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia says he is humbled by the emphatic endorsement of the delegates at the NPP Super Delegates Congress on Saturday.

Dr Bawumia commended the leadership of the Party, the Electoral Commission and the entire NPP family for the smooth conduct of the polls.

He called for hard work and unity within the Party to ensure a resounding victory in the November 4 Delegates Conference, and subsequently in the 2024 General Election.

"The main quest for the party is winning the 2024 elections and we all have to work together towards that," said the Vice President.

He continued: "This will require a lot of unity from all the various flagbearership aspirants so we have to ensure that we don't destroy the unity of this party and we don't have a situation where there are cracks in our ranks."

"We should unite together and close ranks so that we fight together after the internal election and win the main election."

"We have to come together and support whoever emerges winner so that we can break the eight. I am confident I will emerge victorious."

Bawumia won the super delegates congress with a total of 629 votes, representing 68.15% of the vote.

Assin Central MP Kennedy Agyapong came in second with 132 votes, while former Trade Minister Alan Kyerematen placed third with 95 votes.

Former Agric Minister Owusu Afriyie Akoto placed 4th with 36 votes.

However, the 5th position is yet to be decided as Boakye Agyarko and Francis Addai Nimoh got 9 votes each.

The Elections Committee of the NPP has therefore decided that there will be a run-off between the duo next Saturday, September 2, 2023.

Professor Mike Oquaye, Chairman of the Elections Committee has explained that race for breaking the tie ahead will go ahead unless one candidate or the two candidates decide to step aside.
