The list of persons purported to have been appointed as ambassadors by President Nana Akufo-Addo which surfaced this morning [Friday] March 17 is false, government stated.

The Ghanaian media was rife with reports of the appointments of some persons as ambassadors to head six of Ghana's missions in Germany, China, France, Canada, UK and Nigeria.

While former Attorney General Ayikoi Otoo was said to be heading to Canada as Ghana’s High Commissioner, former Member of Parliament (MP) for Sekondi, Papa Owusu Ankomah was as also purported to have been appointed as Ghana’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom.

The list claimed that former Ambassador to Japan under erstwhile Kufuor administration and a member of the NPP Council of Elders, Baffour Adjei Bawuah had been appointed Ghana’s Ambassador to the United States of America with another of Kufuor's appointees, former Deputy Minister of Sports, Rashid Bawa also said to have been named as High Commissioner to Nigeria.

Also, former Commissioner of CHRAJ, Anna Bossman for slated France with  Managing Editor of Daily Guide, Gina Blay; and  CEO of Global Media Alliance, Edward Boateng also heading for Germany and China respectively.

But Director of Communications at the Presidency, Eugene Arhin, has denied the appointments urging the public to “ignore the above list”.
