Four-time and incumbent MP for Kwesimintsim in the Western Region, Joe Baidoe-Ansah has lost the NPP’s parliamentary primaries in the constituency to his only contender Joe Mensah.

Provisional results for the delayed primary had Mr Baidoe-Ansah, a former Deputy minister of Trade and Industry under the Kufuor administration, polling 122 votes as against Mr Mensah's 187.

The primary in the constituency was delayed after the Constituency Vetting Committee initially disqualified Joe Mensah from contesting on the basis that he was not a member of the party adding that his party identity cards were fake and that he was also a former cadre who worked with the Provisional National Defence Council (PNDC) under leader, Flt Lt J.J. Rawlings.

Mr Mensah who felt he was unjustifiably disqualified from contesting the race took the matter to an Accra High court which subsequently ruled that Mr. Mensah was qualified to contest the race.
