President-elect John Dramani Mahama has unveiled his initial appointments to the Office of the President ahead of his official assumption of office.
In a statement released on Monday, January 6, 2025, Mahama named seven individuals to pivotal roles, emphasising his commitment to assembling a competent and experienced team to drive his administration’s agenda.
The appointments will take effect from Tuesday, 7 January 2025, signaling the start of Mahama’s preparations for governance.
The appointments:
- Julius Debrah: Appointed as Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah brings significant administrative experience and is expected to play a key role in coordinating government operations.
- Dr. Callistus Mahama: Named executive secretary to the President, Dr. Mahama will handle critical presidential communications and administrative functions.
- Prosper Douglas Bani: Tasked with leading the Interim Security Taskforce, Bani will oversee security policies and responses during the transitional period.
- Dr. Valerie Sawyerr: As Senior Presidential Advisor on Governmental Affairs, Dr. Sawyerr is expected to provide strategic counsel on governance matters.
- Augustus Goosie Tanoh: Appointed as presidential advisor for 24-hour Economy and Accelerated Export Development, Tanoh will focus on boosting economic productivity and export growth.
- Marietta Appiah Brew: Serving as Legal Counsel to the President, Brew will manage legal advisory matters for the presidency.
- Felix Kwakye Ofosu: Designated as acting spokesperson to the President, Kwakye Ofosu will communicate the administration’s policies and decisions to the public.
