The Appointments Committee of Parliament will vet President John Mahama’s first ministerial appointments today, January 13, 2025.
President John Mahama last week appointed Ajumako Enyan Essiam MP and Majority Leader, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, as the Finance Minister-designate.
The appointment, which is the first set after his inauguration on January 7, 2025, also features Yapei-Kusawgu MP, John Jinapor, as the Energy Minister-designate and Bolgatanga East MP, Dr. Dominic Ayine, as Attorney General and Minister for Justice-designate.
Among the first nominees to undergo the vetting process is Dr Cassiel Ato Baah Forson, the Minister-designate for Finance.

John Abdulai Jinapor, nominated as Minister-designate for Energy, will then face the committee, followed by Dr Dominic Akuritinga Ayine as Attorney-General and Minister of Justice-designate.
Meanwhile, the first meeting of the first session of the Ninth Parliament has been suspended until Tuesday, January 21, 2025, due to the vetting process.
The suspension period will also be used to organize a four-day orientation workshop for new legislators to familiarize themselves with the rudiments and procedures of the House.
