Minster-designate for Monitoring and Evaluation, Dr Anthony Akoto Osei has stated explained his role in government describing his position as the police of other ministers.

According to him, contrary to claims that his role was in conflict with that of the Senior minister and the Chief of Staff, he was in government basically to ensure that other ministers performed their functions to meet Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) set out by them and accepted by cabinet.

Addressing members of the Appointments Committee of Parliament on Monday during his vetting, Dr Akoto Osei indicated that the Senior Minister was going largely coordinate the activities of the economic sector ministries, the Chief of Staff would be in charge if the Presidency and he is going to be in charge of government machinery.

"I'm clear in my mind that there is no conflict. If you want me to simplify it, my job is partially to police my colleagues", he stated while answering a question on the anticipated conflict of roles.

He added that "the President promised Ghanaians he would deliver results. If that is to happen he can't go the normal way".
