The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has promised to roll out an initiative that will provide tuition-free education for first-year students in public universities.
The NDC explained that the policy forms part of a broader set of reforms aimed at making higher education accessible for every Ghanaian, particularly students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds.
This came up at the party’s launch of its youth manifesto on August 12, 2024.
Speaking at the launch, Mahama assured Ghanaians that the policies that would be rolled out under his administration would create opportunities for the youth.
“We will create an enabling environment for young people to thrive and lay a foundation for prosperous Ghanaians, not just a few.
“We will increase access to quality education from the basic and second cycle to tertiary levels, as well as affordable healthcare and numerous job creation programs,” he said.
Meanwhile, the NDC has also promised to establish the Ministry for Youth Development.
The Ministry would focus on unlocking the full potential of Ghana’s young people.
