NPP to open parliamentary nominations for constituency with sitting MPs December 20

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) will on Wednesday, December 20, 2023 open nominations for its upcoming Parliamentary Primaries Election in constituencies with incumbent Members of Parliament.

The five-day exercise will close on Monday, December 25, 2023 with elections expected to be held on January 27, 2024.

The forms are to be sold at Gh₵3,000.

The party in a statement indicated that male aspiring parliamentary candidates must submit a non-refundable filing fee of GH¢35,000 while women and persons with disabilities would pay 50% rebate on the filing fees.

Also, aspirants shall pay a-non-refundable Development Fee of Forty Thousand Ghana Cedis (Gh ₵40,000).

The party said no aspiring Parliamentary Candidate shall be denied access to the Nomination Forms.

In the event a candidate is denied access, one is expected to visit the Party’s website (www.newpatrioticparty.org) to purchase a form.

The Party reiterated its commitment to free, fair and transparent Parliamentary Primaries and counts on the support of all stakeholders.

 

UPDATE ON PARLIAMENTARY PRIMARIES ELECTION FOR CONSTITUENCIES WITH INCUMBENT MEMBERS OF PARLIAMENT

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) wishes to bring to the attention of all stakeholders some additional information regarding the conduct of the upcoming Parliamentary Primaries Election in constituencies with incumbent Members of Parliament.

1. Nominations will open on Wednesday, December 20, 2023 and close on Monday, December 25, 2023.

2. No Aspiring Parliamentary Candidate shall be denied access to the Nomination Forms.

3. An Aspiring Parliamentary Candidate denied access to the Nomination Forms at the Constituency level shall purchase same at the Regional Secretariat and if denied, same maybe downloaded from the Party’s website (www.newpatrioticparty.org)

4. Forms printed from the party's website shall be submitted to the General Secretary at the National Secretariat of the Party.

5. Aspiring Parliamentary Candidates who download Nomination Forms from the Party's website shall show proof on submission that they were denied an opportunity to purchase same at both Constituency and Regional levels.

6. The Extraordinary Constituency Delegates’ Conference for the election of Parliamentary Candidates shall be held on Saturday, January 27, 2024.

7. Nomination forms shall be sold at Three Thousand Ghana Cedis (Gh ₵3,000) only.

8. Aspirants shall pay a-non-refundable filing fee of Thirty-Five Thousand Ghana Cedis (Gh ₵35,000) only.

9. Women, persons with Disability and the youth shall be granted a fifty percent (50%) rebate on the filing fees. For emphasis, youth comprises individuals between the ages of eighteen and forty (18-40) years.

10. Aspirants shall pay a-non-refundable Development Fee of Forty Thousand Ghana Cedis (Gh ₵40,000) only.

11. All payments shall be made by Bankers Draft to the NEW PATRIOTIC PARTY NATIONAL HEADQUARTERS, ACCRA.

12. There shall be a National Parliamentary Appeals Committee to decide on appeals from disqualified Parliamentary Aspirants from Wednesday, January 10, 2024, to Friday, January 12, 2024 (if any).

13. The deadline for the submission of appeals to the National Parliamentary Appeals Committee will be Tuesday, January 9, 2024.

14. Detailed Rules and Regulations for the Parliamentary Primaries will be attached to the Nomination Forms and will be made available to Aspiring Parliamentary Candidates upon purchase of forms.
