The National Chairman of NDC, Ofosu Ampofo has said his hands are clean and he is not the one who spoke in the leaked audio.
According to him, he is a peace-loving man and has no record of violence.
Addressing party supporters on March 2 in Accra after the party's health walk dubbed "Walk with Mahama", Ofosu Ampofo said he is focused on winning the 2020 elections for the party despite the storm following an alleged leaked tape involving him.
“…I want to assure you that I am a man of peace, and my hands are clean. I have been in politics for many years, there’s no evidence I have won my victory through violence or spoken against anybody. I want to remain focused, the NDC wants to remain focused. We will win the election freely, fairly and clearly.â€
Mr. Ofosu Ampofo also noted we will report to the Police CID on Monday following their invitation to him over the remarks on the said leaked audio.
Ofosu Ampofo was captured in leaked audio telling party communicators that “we’re going to take her [EC boss] to the cleaners.â€
“As for the EC chair, we must wage a relentless war on this EC chair. Me, she doesn’t want to see my face,†Ofosu-Ampofo allegedly said at the meeting which took place after the Ayawaso by-election.
As part of strategic communication plans for the NDC going into the 2020 elections, Ofosu-Ampofo also gave his blessings for the communicators to verbally attack the Peace Council chairman Professor Emmanuel Asante.
The NDC chairman was invited by the Police CID over the leaked audio but he has declined the invitation for two times.
Lawyer for Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, Abraham Amaliba told journalists on Friday that his client (Samuel Ofosu Ampofo) is bereaved, adding that it would require some more time to honour the invitation.
