Police have warned the public against any unlawful acts and confusion over the release of the list for the Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs).
Pockets of protests in Accra and other parts of the country have greeted the release of the list, with four persons arrested in Jamestown in Accra over violent protests.

There have been similar agitations in other parts of the country, but police have cautioned the public against such violent protests.
“The Police Administration strongly cautions any individual or group of persons who intend to unlawfully assemble and cause mayhem over the publication of the prospective MMDCEs list or any other matter, to immediately abandon such plans or face the law,†police said.
Although the President’s nominee needs the approval of not less than two-thirds majority of members of the Assembly, many grassroots party supporters feel the appointees don’t reflect their preferences.
Meanwhile, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has called on all stakeholders to accept in good fate, persons who will be nominated as Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives.
