Flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Mahama has urged all eligible voters to participate in the Electoral Commission's (EC) mop-up voter registration exercise.

"I want to urge all 18-year-olds, including all eligible voters yet to register with the Electoral Commission of Ghana, to #RegisterforChange."

Mahama said this in a post on Twitter to encourage all eligible voters who failed to register recent limited voter registration.

According to him, he has gained enough experience to implement strategic policies that can reset the country in four years, and that 'time is getting close.'

He's assured Ghanaians of decent and well-paying jobs through the 24-hour economy initiative should he be be elected President in 2005.

The EC on Thursday, August 1 began the mop-up voter registration exercise.

The three-day exercise is meant to give opportunity to persons who turned 18 years after the recent limited voter registration and those who could not register previously to have their names captured in the poll book.

The exercise will take place at the 268 district offices of the Electoral Commission, 26 public universities and 41 prison centres across the country.

A statement issued by the EC said the exercise will start at 7am to 6pm each day.

“The Commission projects to register between 50,000 and 70,000,” the statement said.

Mahama's full post

"Welcome to a new month, my fellow Ghanaians, brothers and sisters. The time to reset our dear country is getting close. I want to urge all 18-year-olds, including all eligible voters yet to register with the Electoral Commission of Ghana, to #RegisterforChange.

The mop-up voter registration exercise begins today, August 1st, and ends on Saturday, August 3rd. Three days!

Remember, your vote is not just a right; it's power—the power to change this non-performing and unrepentantly corrupt NPP government—the power to change and bring in the Mahama government, which is not just promising change but poised to build Ghana we all want together.

With Naana Jane and I in the Flagstaff House from January 07, 2025, you're assured of decent and well-paying jobs through the 24-hour economy initiative. You're also assured of gender equality, an improved free SHS programme, and a relentless fight against injustice and corruption."
