Private legal practitioner and communications team member of the National Democratic Congress(NDC), Beatrice Annan, has stated that the current New Patriotic Party (NPP) government has no business being in power.

She said that the country is currently experiencing one of the toughest times in its history and the current government should be held responsible for it.

"This country is riddled with high fuel prices and for the first time in the Fourth Republic, we are buying fuel above a dollar for a litre. We have huge debts and today as we speak our debt to GDP ratio is 81.1 per cent,” she said.

Beatrice Annan indicated citizens have been burdened with taxes that they have never experienced before in their lives.

She also stated that the cost of living in the country has risen under the current NPP administration.

Speaking on Good Morning Ghana, the NDC communications team member said Ghanaians should brace themselves this December for a rise in the prices of goods and services in the country due to the government’s removal of the Benchmark Value Reduction of 50% on some selected items.

"Prices can move from as high as 20 per cent to even 50 per cent because, for some of the duties, it is 50 per cent that they are removing and every importer will pass it on to the consumer,” she said.

She made these comments on Monday, November 15, 2021.
