The President has asked his critics to acknowledge the gains made if eventually, he manages to turn the fortunes of the country around.
Speaking at the end of his Western Regional tour today(Wednesday), Nana Akufo-Addo said, the entire country would, by the end of his four-year term recognize that the New Patriotic Party(NPP) has fulfilled the promises it made to citizens.
According to him even though the country is deep in debt left by the former Mahama administration, he will not be bulked down by the debt as measures have already been put in place to effectively manage it.
He said "I came to inherit a lot of debt but it does not frighten me because we have the ideas and determination to turn around the situation. You can convert debt into money and that is what we have started to do."
He added that the economic management team has begun to put the public finances of the country on a sound footing and that would give government the opportunity to provide all necessary infrastructure for the country's advancement.
That he said includes providing education to all young people and in September, the free SHS program would begin across the country.
The President acknowledged the posture of his critics, especially the opposition party which is to downplay any achievement of the government for political expediency, but asked that considering the enormity of the economic decline he inherited, they [critics] should give due credit to his government for progress made, if eventually he manages to fix the economy and put the country on a right path of development.
