Black Stars coach Otto Addo believes hard luck robbed his team of three points against Sudan in their AFCON 2025 qualifier on Thursday.

He said this in his post-game presser after seeing his team deliver a dominant second-half performance but wasted several goal-scoring opportunities.

"I think everybody saw that we played well. It's just really, really bad luck. And their goalkeeper did really, really well."

The tie was the first of back-to-back 2025 AFCON qualification games against Sudan with the second leg set to take place in Benghazi, Libya on Monday, October 14 at 13:00 GMT.

After ruing his team’s missed chances in the crucial game, Addo was adamant Sudan got lucky with the point but won’t be so fortunate when the teams face off again.

"The only thing which was missing was the goals, and surely we have to work on this. We have a few days to analyse it, how we can score better. The chances were there, a lot of chances, but this is football. This is football, sometimes very, very hard, difficult for us. So now it pains even more. The Niger game pains even more. Bit I think today, we did well.

I think we deserved to win, but we didn't. And we will stay positive, and we will beat them away. With the same performance, the same passion, the same creativity up front, we will beat them away."

Ghana shared the spoils with Sudan at the Accra Sports Stadium on Thursday.

The Black Stars dominated possession but failed to capitalize on scoring opportunities, leaving Ghana in third place with 2 points.
