Ghana Premier League side Nsoatreman FC annihilated Chadian counterparts Elect-Sport FC 3-0 to secure a first-leg win in their 2024-25 CAF Confederation Cup preliminary match.
The reigning MTN FA Cup, who are making their debut in the Confederation Cup, delivered an outstanding performance to secure a healthy lead ahead of the second leg encounter.
Abdul Rahman’s brace and Kwabena Meider’s solitary strike all in the first half was enough to secure the needed victory for the Nsoatre-based side.
Nsoatreman FC, were dominant in the opening minutes of the game as they played some delightful football with coach Yaw Preko playing his first competitive match following the departure of Maxwell Konadu.
After all the intense pressure, Nsoatreman’s efforts were rewarded on the half-hour mark when Abdul Rahman headed from close range after a sweet cross from Michael Ackah Ballack.
Nsoatreman FC doubled their lead two minutes later after Meider delivered a ferocious strike past Elect-Sport goalkeeper Mahamat Bashir.
The pressure from Nsoatreman FC was rampant and couldn’t be contained by the away side as Abdul Rahman grabbed his second goal of the day with a close finish in the 35th minute.
Nsoatreman FC held on firmly to their three-goal cushion going into half.
Elect-Sport, after recess, tried to get back into the game but were further dealt a huge blow after their goalkeeper Bahir was sent off for illegitimately handling the ball outside the penalty.
It was an advantage to Nsoatreman FC, who had the opportunity to kill the tie but missed some very good opportunities that came their way.
Elect-Sport nearly pulled one back from the free kick with a quarter of the game left, but Nsoatreman FC goalkeeper Daniel Afadzu delivered an outstanding save.
Despite being three goals down and a man down, Elite Sports displayed some defensive brilliance in the second half not to concede again.
The game ended with Nsoatreman FC maintaining their 3-0 cushion over Elite Sport heading into the second leg, with the winner of the tie set to meet either Police FC of Rwanda or CS Constantine of Algeria.
