The Stallions of Burkina Faso have had an upper hand over the Local Black Stars of Ghana after beating them by a lone goal in the first leg of the CHAN qualifier at the Baba Yara Stadium
A 90th-minute strike by Yannick Stephanie secured the first leg advantage for the visitors.
Maxwell Konadu started with 4-4-2 formation with Joseph Esso and Shafiu Mumuni leading the attack for the team.
It was an open game in the early stages as both sides tried to settle in the game.
Augustine Okrah nearly broke the deadlock of the game but his shot was easily dealt by Abobacar Sawadogo.
Shafiu Mumuni came close again for Ghana in the 9th minute, but a wonderful double saved by Sawadogo denied the Ashantigold striker.

The Stallions came close through Ayiku Chitou’s effort but Felix Annan easily dealt with the ball.
Mody Cisse had the opportunity to break the deadlock of the game after he was put through on goal by Faical, but a good intervention by Fatawu Mohammed denied him.
Emmanuel Gyamfi then missed a glorious chance to give Ghana the lead in the 28th minute, the winger capitalized from a good through pass by Shafiu Mumuni, but his feeble strike was saved by Sawadogo.
Ghana dominated proceedings but couldn’t get pass the resolute Burkina Faso defence.
No goal was scored as the referee whistled for the end of the first half. Ghana returned from recess looking to break the deadlock of the game.
Shafiu Mumuni headed a good cross from Fatawu Mohammed but Sawadogo did well to save the danger.
Emmanuel Ocran came on for Emmanuel Gyamfi as Ghana pushed to get the opener.
Maxwell Konadu effected another substitution by introducing James Akaminko for Appiah McCarthy.
Emmanuel Ocran attempted a very good curl outside the penalty box but his shot went wide.
Shafiu Mumuni then forced Sawadogo to make a great save after pouncing on a pass from James Akaminko.
Ghana kept pushing for the needed opener as Shafiu Mumuni missed a good chance just from 5 yards, after a good work by Emmanuel Ocran on the left side.
Maxwell Konadu made his last substitution of the game by introducing New Edubiase striker Prince Opoku Agyemang for Shafiu Mumuni.
Joseph Esso had a great chance in the 80th minute, but the Hearts of Oak player decided to pass the ball instead of going for a goal.
Ghana huffed and puffed in search for the winner but the visitors kept it tight at the back.
The visitors silence the stadium in the added time, Yannick Stephane capitalized from a mistake by Habibu Mohammed and finished home a good strike.
