The largest sports store in West Africa,Decathlon Ghana is set to open at the Junction Mall,Nungua on April 22 with an attempt to break the world record for the most accurate football passes.
The record-breaking event which forms part of activities to mark the grand opening of the sports store, would see hundreds of football fans engaged in the event.
Currently the world record of accurate football passes stands at 596,held by members of the Qatar Petrochemical Company, (QAPCO) but Decathlon at its 1,250 square foot spare, would be hoping to break that record.
According to the Country Manager of Decathlon Ghana, Kwasi Tabury, the outfit is proud to be leading Ghanaians to break the Guinness World Record on the most accurate football passes. “Ghana is known for its love of football and I think it is only proper that we carve our place in history by setting this record.†Â
As part of activities for the grand opening,Decathlon also intends to occasionally engage in various sporting disciplines with customers and interested Ghanaians at their Nungua premises. The company believes this will facilitate collecting accurate data to design products to meet both the environmental and technical needs of the Ghanaian market.
“Our idea is to change the lives of people so we want to encourage people to do more sports because it is good for our health, and promotes better living, said Mr Tabury.
The Decathlon store at the Junction Mall will be a one stop shop for more than 40 sports disciplines including, Scuba Diving, Snorkeling, Hockey, Lawn Tennis etc. Â The store will be a place where fans and players of lesser known sports in Ghana would get their sporting gear. Â Â Â Â Â
