Don't be influenced in your player selection - Kwasi Nyantakyi advises Otto Addo

Former GFA boss Kwasi Nyantakyi has urged Black Stars coach Otto Addo to be his own man and not allow officials or the powers that be to interfere in his team selection.

He made this statement on GTV Sports plus program dubbed 'Saving our Passion.'

Many Ghanaians believe interference and player selection is hurting the Black Stars, Kwasi Nyantakyi is advising Otto Addo to be firm in his decisions and invite players based on merit. 

"Otto Addo should operate as a man of his own, let players on the basis of demonstrable merit,' he said.

Otto Addo on February 9 was appointed as the new Black Stars coach of the newly constituted national team. 

The 46-year-old will work alongside former Newcastle United and Brighton and Hove Albion manager Chris Hughton has been appointed as Technical Advisor and two assistant coaches in George Boateng and Mas-Ud Didi Dramani as well as goalkeeper's trainer Richard Kingson.

Their first major assignment is next month’s FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 play-off match against Nigeria.

The four man team has been put together to take charge of the two matches against rivals Nigeria. The Black Stars will take on the Super Eagles at the Cape Coast stadium on March 24 before travelling to Nigeria for the 2nd leg at the Abuja Sports stadium on Sunday, March 27, 2022.
