Equatorial Guinea and defending champions Ivory Coast have clinched their places in the AFCON 2025, joining Cameroon, who also qualified last month.

On Wednesday, Cameroon’s goalkeeper Andre Onana recorded his fourth clean sheet during a 0-0 draw against Namibia in Group J, held in Soweto, near Johannesburg.

Despite missing key players such as Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo and Napoli’s Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa, Cameroon dominated the match defensively. Namibia, already eliminated from the tournament, managed 15 goal attempts but only one was on target against Onana, who has conceded just once in five qualifiers. With this result, Cameroon remains at the top of their group with 11 points and will face Zimbabwe on Tuesday.

Equatorial Guinea confirmed their spot without playing, thanks to Togo’s defeat to Liberia, which ensured they finished in the top two of Group E. Meanwhile, Ivory Coast’s qualification was secured after a 1-1 draw between Chad and Sierra Leone, solidifying their position in Group G.

Before this matchday, Algeria, Angola, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Egypt, and Senegal had all secured their places. As the tournament approaches, Morocco automatically qualifies as the host nation.

Zambia can still join Ivory Coast in the finals if they win their upcoming match against Ivory Coast, while Sudan has the opportunity to qualify at the expense of four-time champions Ghana if they avoid defeat against Niger on Thursday.
