Former Kotoko board member Yamoah Ponko passes on

A former Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Ejisu Municipality in the Ashanti Region, Afrifa Yamoah Ponkoh has passed on.

The National Communications officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Sammy Gyamfi confirmed the death in a social media post on Sunday evening, October 6, 2024.

Yamoah Ponkoh had been unwell for several weeks before his passing.

He was a football administrator before moving into frontline partisan politics and worked with Kumasi Asante Kotoko and Kwabibrem Football Club in the Eastern Region.

He joined frontline partisan politics ahead of the 2008 elections where he was one of the strong voices for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and served in various capacities in the party.

He became the Municipal Chief Executive for Ejisu until the NDC lost Election 2016.
