Former Asante Kotoko defender, Isaac Owusu says his former employers lack leadership on the field of play following the team's 3-1 defeat last weekend.
He observed that Kotoko lacks a commander on the field of play, and that is a great worry. According to him, lack of a commander-player on the field has been Kotoko’s bane.
Ninja, who currently serves at Division one league side Asokwa Deportivo, therefore, entreated Coach C.K Akonnor to look for a player-coach to lead the team on the pitch.
“Kotoko needs a player who will act as a coach on the field of play during games., I have watched their matches and I don’t see any player commanding the team.
“Preferably, one midfielder should be elected as the player-coach on the field of play.â€
He also insisted that the team lacks control and command at the back and has been evident in the way they concede and described the central defense as too gentle which is not good for the team.
“There’s no command at the defense of Kotoko and it's affecting the team, which is leading to the conceding of goals in every game, “ Isaac Owusu told Ashh Fm.
“There should be a commander at the defense who will be arranging and commanding the defense. if things will work, there should always be an understanding between Agyemang Badu and Ishmael Abdul Ganiu†he added.
Isaac Owusu, nicknamed ‘Ninja’ during his playing days, was speaking on Ashh FM.
The stalwart defender featured for Asante Kotoko between the period of 1999-2005.
