Ghana's Under-17 national team, the Black Starlets have qualified for the finals of the 2017 African U-17 Nations Cup after defeating Niger on Wednesday.
The much-fancied Starlets failed to score in regulation time for the second game in a row but went ahead to defeat their West African counterparts 6-5 on penalties to qualify for their first finals since 2005 when they lost 1-0 to The Gambia.
After seven kicks, Niger failed to convert two while Ghana's skipper, Eric Ayiah who is the top scorer of the competition so far missed his penalty.
In a game which could be described as an even contest, Niger would feel hard done by as they hit the woodwork within regulation time.
The Starlets, who could become the first side to win the competition on three occasions, now await the winner of the other semi-final game between defending champions, Mali and Guinea.
