The Ghana U12 baseball team have started the Francophone African Baseball championship in Ivory Coast brightly, defeating Burkina Faso by 16 runs to 1.
The four nation tournament sees Ghana as the only Anglophone Country with Ivory Coast,Burkina Faso and France, all French speakers.
President of Ghana Baseball and Soft ball association, Albert K. Frimpong stated that he is happy with the performance of the youngsters and is optimistic that Ghana can win the Championship.
" We are happy with the team's performance and outcome of the first game"
"We hope they build on the momentum and grab more wins as we aim for the ultimate, he added.
Baseball is gaining grounds as one of the fastest growing sport in the country and the main purpose of the tournament is to promote the game in the sub region.
Ghana will take on host Ivory Coast in their next game.
