Italian giants, Juventus have all but booked their place in the 2016/17 UEFA Champions League Final after they defeated AS Monaco 2-0 at the Stade de Louis in France.

Juventus took the lead just before the half-hour. Argentine striker, Gonzalo Higuain finished off what could be described as one of the great team goals of the season

The goal came after Monaco had created some very decent chances and it took the sails out of their winds leaving the score at 1-0 until half time.

After some Monaco pressure at the start of the second half, Higuain doubled the Juventus' lead in the 59th minute to record his eighth goal in his last eight matches for Juventus.

And it was another assist from Dani Alves who floated a ball to Higuain on the edge of the six-yard box which he forced a connection to beat Subasic in the Monaco goal.

The win puts the Serie A leaders in a good stead to qualify as they will entertain Monaco in the second leg at the Juventus Arena and they have history backing them having beaten Monaco in the in the 1997/98 Champions League semi-final, 6-4 on aggregate (won 4-1 at home, lost 3-2 away).
