Former Asante Kotoko ace Ernest Boateng has opened up on how he merged his work as an electrician while playing for the Porcupine Warriors.
The ex-Okwahu United player who joined the Porcupine Warriors in 1994 disclosed he had initially not wanted to sign for the club but had to be convinced by a fan of the of the Kumasi based club.
In an interview with Ashh FM in Kumasi, Boateng said he was a still doing his job as an electrician even before signing a professional contract with the senior side of Kotoko.Â
"I was an electrician before joining Kotoko U-20, we were the players they used to form the U-20," he revealed.
"Even when i signed for Kotoko i was still doing my job as an electrician."
"I was one day called for a justify in the Senior team and after the justify the management called me to sign a contract surprisingly but i refused at the spot, so a die Hard fan of Kotoko i know much came and convince me before i signed for Kotoko which was in 1994/95 season," he added.
Ernest Boateng was one of the pioneers of the Asante Kotoko U-20 team before going to become a first team member and was signed for just GHC 25 that time.
The former striker called on the management of Asante Kotoko to have their own clubhouse where the coaches and players will camp and also a stadium.Â

Boateng scored brace in his first game for the club against Great Olympics in Accra and went on to help Kotoko to clinch the league title in his maiden season with the Reds in the 1994/1995 league season.
