Ghana's Minister for Sports nominee, Kofi Adams, has assured Ghanaians of his commitment to delivering results in his new role, pledging not to disappoint the nation or President John Mahama.
Speaking on his appointment during his vetting with Parliament’s Appointments Committee, Mr. Adams acknowledged mixed reactions from the public but expressed confidence in his ability to serve effectively.
“It is the case that some say so, but the majority are also happy that I have been nominated. I will not disappoint Ghanaians, and I will not disappoint HE John Dramani Mahama. I will deliver. And I won’t also disappoint myself,” he stated.
Addressing concerns over the deteriorating state of sporting facilities in the country, the minister assured that his administration would prioritise proper maintenance while also developing new infrastructure.
“Under the leadership of the president, we are going to improve upon maintenance culture. We will not allow any facility to deteriorate to the point that we could even be banned from using them. So, with the very minimal resources we have, we will spend it to ensure that we maintain what we have while we build new ones also,” he stated.
Mr. Adams’ remarks reflect the government’s renewed focus on revitalizing Ghana’s sports sector and ensuring that existing facilities remain in top condition for athletes and future generations.
