President John Mahama has nominated Member of Parliament for Buem Constituency Kofi Adams as Minister of Sports and Recreation.

The selection was confirmed following the release of the third batch of Ministerial appointments for Parliamentary approval.

Kofi, who is expected to go through vetting, replaces Mustafa Ussif, who served as Minister of Sports from 2021 under the New Patriotic Party led by  Akufo-Addo.

In a statement released on January 21, 2024, the president noted that Kofi Adams will spearhead affairs in the sports sector, as well as recreational activities.

"The President, His Excellency John Mahama , has submitted the names of the under listed to Parliament, through the Speaker, for prior approval to serve as Ministers of State and Regional Ministers," the statement, signed by Acting Spokesperson to the President, Felix Ofosu Kwakye, read.

The Buem MP has the task of addressing the challenges in the sports sector, ranging from lesser-known sports to football, athletics, and other components of sports.
